Solar had a great year, last 18 months exceeded last previous 30 years. Almost 20% more solar jobs with over 140,000 solar workers. All of this still amounts to an industry that is politically struggling. State level policies are going strong, our industry's grassroots has been phenomenal but one look at the Obama budget showed a lack of respect for our national presence. SEIA stepped up and rebuked the proposal, as an ITC extension should be the requirement as long as oil and gas maintain their tax credits and subsidies.

Tipping points are reached through innovation and customer adoption. The convergence of the key tipping point for solar is when financing is available to a customer class. We saw it first in utility and large commercial scale solar. Then residential took off and is creating new financial products. The next leap comes in small and medium commercial solar and storage.

Ever since getting into the solar industry, friends and strangers all have the same statement when they find out I work in solar; "things must be booming!" While things are always in a state of progress, the last few months have appeared to show a tipping point, something I see is taking root as a sentiment. IPOs, consolidation, yield-cos, acquisitions and start-ups are doing amazing work to advance solar.

Last week CASE asked SolarWorld to explain if and how much of the company is owned by Qatar, the middle eastern oil and gas exporting Country. SolarWorld has called this legitimate question, "twaddle" and in case you are wondering, the definition of "twaddle" is below. No comment or all of our major shareholders file as required would have been appropriate, twaddle on the other hand shows that this question is worth pursuing. See below for a story on the topic and more to come...soon!
