Now we see the potential other side of the Trade Commission's delay in initial findings for the expanded trade complaint. A deal may be in the works, according to SEIA talks are in early stages. The question remains, who is in the room, who represents the individual parts of the solar market and what does it mean for the future of solar in the US. More to come...

Last sales pitch from me for the Vote Solar Equinox event. This Thursday night, close to 1,000 people from the solar world will gather in San Francisco. I will be making my way West to attend the event and see many of you in the Bay area. If you can make it to the event, the money goes to a good cause as Vote Solar works to protect solar rights across the Country.

Minnesota has established a value of solar, a term that will become more common across the Country in my opinion. Not only will regulators ask utilities to measure the value of solar but solar developers should learn to sell based on the value of solar. The total benefits test should be applied for solar including societal and technical benefits to the consumer and grid.

The solar trade case preliminary decision has been moved from March 28th to June 2nd. The trade commission says it's due to "parties involved are cooperating, and investigation is complicated." You can read into this in two ways, either the case is too complicated to determine a result in 65 days or someone is negotiating a deal in the background. More to come...On another note, ALEC may be playing games in MA, see a follow up on our article from yesterday.

PJM says they can handle 30% solar and wind on the grid, in a no big deal statement. Translation: that's a whole lot of solar to be built into the grid without impact to the system. Probably not what the utilities wanted to hear but funny things happen when engineers can work without a business goal in mind.

More good news for solar innovation. Solarbridge, the manufacturer of microinverters, raised $42mm in new financing. The interesting market impact is that Constellation ventures was a major part of the funding. Utility companies are shifting from being against solar all of the time to understanding the opportunities in the market. Don't mistake utility holding company actions for those of regulated entities however.
