The second day at the BNEF Summit brought quite the crowd to the event to watch the speeches headlined by Michael Bloomberg and Secretary John Kerry. Kerry came across knowledgeable and polished as usual in a scripted speech. The speech included comments about how the industry has to look at energy investments with a long term vision that includes the societal costs. The “insurmountable cost in the long term” cannot be ignored when we make our investments while clean energy will bring trillions of investments to our sector.

Bolder Action is what the New York Times Editorial Board is calling for by World leaders. After the first day of BloombergNEF Summit in New York, I am surprised at how much people were talking about the inspiring scale our industry is heading towards. I am also surprised at how little people were talking about Sunedison, and if they did, only with a joking sentiment. My only conclusion can be that many people expected the fast growth, super hype would come to an end at some point. The BNEF stats are phenomenal about what lies ahead for us, nicely covered in our second article today.

I am not really changing the name! If you thought it was true, my apologies, but you fell for an April Fool’s joke.

The notice has come out though the official filing has not yet happened. Sunedison appears to be in talks with lenders to see it through the chapter 11 filings. Two lenders are in play, Deutsche Bank, and a few funds that participated in the latest debt raise. The stock is now nearing the single digits and it will take some time to unwind the projects and various business units. Stay tuned for much more.
