RMI is tackling the issue of value of solar in the net metering conversation. The quantitative conversation/argument will continue but utilities have to beware. If customers have a choice to offset some of their load with solar, they will make a financial decision about it. If that choice is taken away by utilities/regulators then consumers will face a future decision, to de-meter their building from the grid and use solar/storage/DG to provide all of their load.
